Barely 48 hours after finishing his performances of “Il Turco in Italia” at the Opéra de Lausanne, the baritone Luis Cansino has been called on an emergency basis to play the role of Vidal Hernando in the zarzuela “Luisa Fernanda” that will be performed on October 20 and 25 at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and at the Teatro Real in Madrid, respectively, replacing José Antonio López who had to cancel due to illness. With musical direction by Karel Mark Chichon, these two performances by Luisa Fernanda mark the debut in the role of the acclaimed Latvian mezzo Elīna Garanča.
